About Spain – our feelings, experiences, impressions

WHAT WE EXPERIENCED OURSELVES OR HOW WE SEE SPAIN

We will not wear you out with what you can read on other different websites, we will not bother you what you can read in Wikipedia but we try to serve Spain from our point of view. We will try to describe it as we see it, as we feel it, as we have experienced it, so from the point of view as we know it.

But we will stay only at the areas which we work with, which we know – and why? Because it is our matter of heart and we have travelled it through and through...

And if you feel like it, you can also look into our archive – there are photographs which we add continuously and all of them are made by us, no pictures from the Photoshop, no taken over photos from different profiles. We have been to all places personally, we have experienced them all, so go for it...

photos of Spain

Spain is a beautiful and varied country with many contrasts and you will find out that althoug you spend here a lot of time, you still have a lot to discover. It is icluded in most favourite destinations in Europe in general – people go there to experience tranquillity, to seaside, to meet the people, to taste the food, to sport.

The first idea you have after arrival is an incredible ease, nobody hurries anywhere, nobody solves anything, nobody will have a bad look at you, although you wear something extravagant, nobody will judge you, the tolerance is amazing.

The second thing which will make you enthusiastic is the weather. In the areas, introduced bellow, there is one of the most stable weathers you can imagine. The warmth will go through your whole body and you will like it.

The third thing, which you all will return, is the absulutely amazing famous gastronomy. Spanish are the real gourmets. They can make time to eat, whatever kind of food it is and they never cheat themselves. Their food is not only nourishment for the body but also for the soul – it is a form of relaxation, it is time to stop. And what about the quality of the food? It can´t be compared, tomato is a tomato, tangerines have totally different taste and fish delicacies are unforgettable. And if you like wine, you will be in paradise…if we can recommend you, try to taste everything – small pubs and restauranst not far from the beach, famous reastaurants at the beach, but also, small, homelike, mostly family pubs under the mountains. We will quarantee you will not be disappointed…and you will experience gastronomical moments, which will never be taken from your head...

Another thing which just comes to your mind when you will sit at the steering wheel of your vehicle, or you will sit into another means of transport is that, what the Spanish have been able to built as an infrastructure during the last ten years, is absolutely amazing. We haven´t seen such infrastructure including streets, railways, air or sail transport anywhere else in Europe. And you will find out that they love the roundabouts, and you will have to get used to it in Spain...

Let´s get back to our favourite areas now – we have three of them – Costa del Azahar, Costa Blanca, Costa Calida.

Costa del Azahar

This coast goes though two spanish provinces – Valencia and Castellon. We don´t devote ourselves to all of this area, but only a part of it, and that is the souther part. If you should describe it according to the cities, so that the areas which are our matter of heart are Cullera, Gandía, Oliva.

The name of the area is taken from the word „Azahar“ – that is the name of the blossom of the citrus tree. When we want the aproximate translation, we could translate as „the coast of citrus blossom“ And the name is fits really exactly. Spanish can grow beautiful and tasty citrus fruit, which they export to all Europe. Actually you can´t find a farmer who wouldn´t have a small field with targerines, oranges or who wouldn´t grow lemons, grapefruits or liments. You will certainly find here large wineyards of olive trees groves.

In this area is a magic variety – sea, mountains, views of the sea, small ports, totally distant lonely areas, but also lively sea areas, everybody will find what he likes here. By the way, it is a very favourite area with golfers, cyclists (prepare for them, there are many of them, they are tempted by the variety of the countryside) and if you want the mountain hikes, this area is ideal indeed. Beaches are beautifully clean, mostly sandy, there are places with pebbles. But there are minimum here. When you go farther into the sea there is a possibility of beautiful diving and if this is somebody´s passion this place is the right place for that.

Costa Blanca

This is the centre of our so called heart. The name Costa Blanca is possible to translate very easily, it is „ a white coast.“ You expect that this name has been there for centuries? So you would have been expecting uselessly – it is interesting, that this name is old only 80 years and it is connected wih and advertising event of one of not named English air company. And also this name entered upon here in Spain too. Originaly it was derived from the typical white Spanich houses, but it isn´t true anymore, most of the people will tell you, that this name is there because of the kilometres of white beaches. And they are not far from the truth, actually. Beaches here are incredible, long, clean, nicely kept, Spanish know very well, what they have here and they can take care of it.

You will find here also more lively areas as Alicante with a beuatiful castle and central beach, Benidorm, which is surrounded by the mountains and also it is a centre of entertaintment with wild bars along the beaches, Torrevieja, which boast with beaches in 20 km lengh, but also more peaceful areas like Altea, Calp, Guardamar de Segura. At this place everybody can chose according to his wishes.

Most of local tourists will appreciate that there is a near airport so they don´t have to travel so long after landing. If you want after landing and picking up the luggage you can be at the beach in 15 minutes.

In the area of Costa Blanca you will experience life fully according to your wishes – the beaches are practically everywhere going to to sea, you will find lonely beaches, you will find beaches full of tourists and attractions for children and adults, bars, discos, restaurants, you will find nudist beaches, but also beaches for the dog owners or passinate fishermen. Mountains are farther from the se than at the area of Costa del Azahar, but if you want, you will get there. Locals say that the season here never ends, the only thing that changes is the type of visitors – in summer there are tourist to go to the sea and sun, in winter they are changed by passionate golfists and sportsmen. By the way, this is the favourite area for runners, there is a variety of terrain with minimal change of altitude, so everyone can train here. You can find here beatiful golf resorts, aquaparks, (yes, it is incredible, but they are there too, although they have sea…), natural reserves and parks, interesting monuments, muzeas, galleries, marvellous fairs with local delicacies, fruit and vegetables, meat and dairy products, but also with clothes, hats, jewelry, cosmetics, shoes, home accessories – simply with all and everybody can find something for himself. The visit of such a fair is mostly a light wind in you wallets, but who wouldn´t want to afford this, right?...

Costa Cálida

What does Costa Cálida actually mean in translation? Here the translation is easy – it means „Warm coast“. Which describes quite well this area because the local conditions are totally unique – there is a minimal rainfall and the weather is pleasant through the whole year. It officially starts at pitoresque area of Pilar de da Horadada and ens at a beautiful town with magnificent views of the Águilas surroundings.

You can find here a favourite area – salty lagoon, which locals name as Mar Menor (translation – Smaller Sea). It is said the biggest salty lagoon that you can find in Europe. Its temperature is on average 5 degrees Celsius higher than the temperature of the Mediterranean sea. Mar Menor is actually divided from the Mediterranean sea by a narrow and a very long promontory called La Manga. The promontory itsef is full of hotels, bars, restaurants and it is the right place for a bustling night life. The visitors apprecitate also the speaciality that you can actually swim in the two seas – Mediterranean and Man Menor each of them is very close from each other. And on the northern tip of the lagoon you can use the therapeutical mud baths with sediments which have a proven effect for you health – we can recommend them personally.

The area of Costa Cálida is not only about the sea and relaxing in the sun, but also about the sights and monument, beautiful historical towns such as Murcía, Cartagena, natural reserves, archeological excavations, small forgotten beaches and a wonderful tranquility which will surround you everywhere. When we see face to face, we can recommend dozens of amazing trips and experiences that will never forget...
